India’s veteran fast bowler Ashish Nehra has decided to retire from international cricket after the first T20 between India and New Zealand in New Delhi on 1 November. He confirmed the news before India’s third T20 against Australia in Hyderabad on 12 October.
The 38-year-old, who made his international (Test) debut against Sri Lanka in 1999, has taken 44, 157 and 34 wickets in Tests, ODIs and T20s respectively. The Delhi speedster was part of the World Cup winning squad in 2011.
Nehra, who recently made a comeback into the Indian T20 squad for the ongoing series against Australia, didn’t find a place in the playing eleven in the first two matches.
As Nehra walks into the sunset, here’s a look at how Twitterati reacted to the news.
